1. How do I join the People’s 311 group on Flickr?
Once you have an account and are signed in to flickr, go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/311/ and click on the link below the photos on the right that says “Join this Group?”
2. How do I add my image to the People’s 311 Group on Flickr?
First, upload your image and make sure you have joined the People’s 311 group. When looking at a single image in your account on Flickr, there are a set of buttons directly above the image and below the title (add note, send to group, add to set, etc.) Click on “send to group” and select People’s 311 - New York.
3. What should I take photos of?
Any visible 311 condition, including:
* sidewalk or bikelane hazards
* illegal outdoor advertising
* dead or dying street trees
* potholes
* peeling paint in public places (subways)
* damaged or open fire hydrants
* missing or dangling traffic signs
* fallen over newspaper boxes
* illegal dumping
4. Should I also call 311 about the conditions I photograph?
We recommend calling 311 as well as adding your photos. In the past we have had volunteers who would make the calls. If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch.
5. What if a problem in a People’s 311 photo has been fixed?
Please add a comment to that photo specifying that the problem was fixed. If the photo is yours, you can remove it from the group.
